Lumi was born in Bozeman, MT, (1997), soon after she was born her parents moved to western South Dakota. They raised her in the Black Hills, where she developed her love for nature, which has greatly impacted her spiritual journey. Living with a forest in her backyard has been therapeutic and essential to her personal growth.
From scribbling markers over her mother’s walls in her childhood to throwing paint at a canvas years later, she’s always found a way to express herself through a variety of artistic mediums. Lumi was raised in the Black Hills of South Dakota and remained in the area to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Black Hills State University, which she obtained in May of 2021.
In her studio practice, she focuses on creating compositions that reflect what is visible and invisible in the world. Whether it exists in present, or just a manifestation of the mind, she explores the illusion of time through each composition.
Currently, she works prodominantly as a painter, but she also does photography, collage work, animation, and even poetry from time to time. She believes the importance of creating is in the intention and the process more so than the media used or even the product.
Lumi is deeply inspired by her desire to expand her knowledge, especially through Quantum Physics, astronomy, past life meditation, and beyond. Her growing relationship with her Higher Self continues to gracefully unfold through each composition, seen most intimately in her most recent series La Periode Bleue.
